This fun series of hands-on classes is for writers and others who want to have a go at any form of comic writing - such as sketches, scripts, monologue, story, poetry or song - or who wish to add humour to any kind of writing. It's suitable for those already writing or using humour, as well as those who'd like to start from scratch. You can bring along any ideas you're already working on. Over the four weeks you will beable to develop your own project. We will also use improvisational games and other activities to prompt comic creativity.
About the Workshop Leader
Local Irish author Gerry Maguire Thompson is also a stand-up comedian and script writer. He writes humorous poetry and songs, and runs Positive Comedy Learning (see www.positivecomedy.com) helping people develop comedy skills for work and life. Gerry's humorous books include the best-selling parody of human relationship, Cats are from Venus, Dogs are from Mars - see more of his writings at www.gerrythompson.co.uk. Gerry is a sketch writer for Brighton's Treason Show.
