The winners of the Write Around Air Street competition have been announced.
The competition, hosted by THE SOUTH in collaboration with Brighton and Hove Children’s Festival, Wildmoor Properties and Borders Bookshop, has proved a huge success.
We had over 500 entries from children in the Brighton and Hove area, so the decision wasn’t easy; but the judges have finally, from the two categories, chosen five winners and ten runners up. Names of the winners are listed below, as well as their winning entries: short pieces of poetry or prose writing on the theme of Air.
You’ll agree that some remarkable energy has gone into these pieces of writing; for which work on the public sculpture on Air Street – building story trails out of the winning work – is due to start soon!
Winners:
Joe Van Rietschoten
Ella McEwen Smith
Frankie Shinn
Frank Murr-Stevens

Runners up:

The winning school, for which a box-set of books is being provided by Borders Bookshop in Brighton, has also been announced: the winner is Somerhill Junior School in Hove.
