BEXHILL

With grateful thanks to Rother District Council and East Sussex County Council for their kind support
FRIDAY 3 OCTOBER
Reminiscence workshop with All Saints Club, Bexhill
Poets Nathaniel Matthews and John Davies joined the ladies and gentlemen of the club at their regular Friday morning session to listen to their memories of motoring as well as their recollections about their place of birth. The first time a lady of 103 had travelled in a car was in the bridal limousine on her wedding day. Another lady remembered how on one particular bus route in Bexhill the passengers had to get off and push the bus up a steep hill.
Nathaniel Matthews was also poet in residence at Bexhill Museum over the weekend of 4/5 October.
One of his visitors was John Nicholls, brother of the founder of Elva Cars - the sports car company based in Bexhill in the nineteen fifties.

The birthplace of British motor racing celebrated in a web project by poet Nathaniel Matthews and designer Ian Craig.
